Nigel Farage set to launch legal battle with NatWest Group and its former boss Dame Alison Rose to seek millions in damages over the debanking scandal
- Mr Farage, 59, is set to seek millions in damages over the debanking scandal
Nigel Farage is set to launch a legal battle with NatWest Group and its former boss Dame Alison Rose to seek millions in damages over the debanking scandal.
Dame Alison left the state-backed lender in July after admitting she discussed Mr Farage’s banking arrangements with a BBC journalist.
She had claimed the former Ukip leader’s account with the high-end bank Coutts, which is owned by NatWest, was shut down on financial grounds.
It later emerged that his political views were also considered to have been a factor in the decision.
Now Mr Farage is seeking millions in compensation from the former chief executive and the state-backed lender for damage to his reputation, Sky News reported.

NatWest confirmed it would cancel the bulk of Rose’s potential £11 million severance package
Farage said in a statement: ‘NatWest and its former CEO, Dame Alison Rose, need to be held to account.’
He is understood to have instructed London-based Grosvenor Law to act for him and initial legal letters are set to be issued next week.
It comes days after NatWest confirmed it would cancel the bulk of Rose’s potential £11 million severance package.
The bank scrapped around £7.6 million in bonuses and share awards after it said she was not a ‘good leaver’.
But NatWest has said it had not found evidence of misconduct.
