Boris Johnson calls for an inheritance tax cut in his latest Mail column so Baby Boomers can leave a little bit more to the next generation who haven’t enjoyed the same ‘cushy pensions, free university and cheaper mortgages’
Boris Johnson is calling for a cut to inheritance tax to allow Baby Boomers to leave the next generation a bit more of their ‘colossal’ wealth.
The former prime minister, 59, writing exclusively for the Daily Mail, notes how younger generations have had it ‘so much harder’ than those like himself.
‘We had cushy pensions, we had free university education, we had cheaper mortgages, we were able to buy our homes,’ he tells readers.
‘Things are so much harder for those who come after us in the UK.’
Ahead of Chancellor Jeremy Hunt’s Autumn Statement next week, Mr Johnson adds: ‘Isn’t it right, therefore, that of the colossal wealth we have been able to accumulate, we should be able to leave a little bit more behind?
‘That’s why I’m calling for a cut to inheritance tax.’
Watch out for Boris Johnson’s column on Mail Online and in Saturday’s Daily Mail.
