BBC'S The Reckoning sees victims of Jimmy Savile recall the horror that the disgraced DJ caused.

Four victims have their stories told in the programme – one of which is Kevin Cook.

Who is Kevin Cook?

Kevin Cook was just nine years old when he went on Jimmy Savile’s Jim’ll Fix It show in 1977 as a cub scout.

At the height of his fame thanks to shows like Jim'll Fix It and Top Of The Pops, Savile's influence at the BBC and other institutions meant he could carry out his depraved acts without fear of retribution.

Kevin's group were told they'd receive one Jim'll Fix It badge that would be presented to them all collectively.

But Kevin was lured to his room and assaulted -with the disgraced DJ later using the phrase "would you like to earn your badge".

In October 2023, a four-part drama, The Reckoning, starring Steve Coogan, revealed the extent of paedo Savile's crimes after he inflicted years of torture and suffering on his victims.

Testimonies from Savile's real-life victims are brought to life in the drama.

In the opening scenes of the first and second episode, victims of Savile recalled the horror that he caused – one of which was Kevin.

It was only in 2012, when he heard of another boy who had been abused by Savile, that Kevin opened up to his wife about the horrific incident and contacted the police.

What has Kevin Cook said about Jimmy Savile?

Bravely opening up on the horror he endured, Kevin told viewers: ''He fooled everyone. He had adults eating out his hand.

"He had the persona that everyone wanted to be associated with him. He just had that aura about him.

"Everyone loved him. He was the star of the day."

Kevin previously spoke out in July, 2019, as he blasted Sir Cliff Richard’s call for all alleged sex pests’ names to be kept secret until charges are brought.

He branded Sir Cliff’s campaign as “insulting”. 

Kevin, of Essex, added: ''He pulled my shorts down. I sat there frozen. He said, ‘Don’t you dare tell. We know where you live’.

''For around 35 years, I kept it secret. I felt it was my fault. But then those people coming out made me realise maybe it wasn’t.

''I spoke out publicly and I no longer think it was my fault.

"But there’s no way this would have happened if Sir Cliff’s laws had been in.
