Holly Willoughby has announced that she has quit This Morning after 14 years presenting the ITV daytime show.
Taking to Instagram to share the news on Tuesday, 10 October, Holly revealed that she would not be returning to the show, after a rather tumultuous year for both her and This Morning itself.
Following Holly's announcement, ITV has released a statement sharing that it is looking forward to working with Holly again "in the future".
In the statement, Kevin Lygo, managing director of media and entertainment at ITV, said: "We are sad that Holly is leaving This Morning, but respect her decision which we know will have been extremely difficult for her to make.
"Holly is one of the best loved, respected and most accomplished broadcasters in the UK. She has been at the heart of This Morning for the past 14 years, and she is adored by our viewers.
"Holly has brought her unique brand of warmth, energy, humour and fun to one of the country’s most popular daytime shows, and everyone on the programme will miss her enormously.
"She remains a much loved member of the ITV family and we look forward to continuing to work with her in the future."
Following the announcement of Holly’s departure, several famous faces were quick to send her messages of support, including This Morning co-star Alison Hammond, who wrote: “This is a very sad day ! Love you”
And Vanessa Feltz expressed her sadness as she added: “We will miss you so very much my darling”
Meanwhile, beauty expert Caroline Hirons commented: “Sending you so much love.”
Before baking expert and presenter Juliet Sear added: “So sad to see you go Holly wishing you loads of positive things for your new chapter xxx it’s been wonderful working with you for the last 8 years and making your birthday cakes to for the last 14. Lots of love to you and you family.”
Holly's departure from This Morning comes just a few months after her former co-star Phillip Schofield resigned from the show, and ITV as a whole.
Unlike Phillip, however, Holly appears to be remaining at ITV, although she's yet to announce whether she will be returning to next year's Dancing on Ice, which the two of them had presented together since its launch in 2006.
