Corrie Ryan star’s role in rival soap Emmerdale as Aaron Dingle’s love interest

Coronation Street star Ryan Prescott has starred as Ryan Connor since 2018.

The actor, 34, is the third person to play the part of Ryan, with the role originally portrayed by Ben Thompson and Sole Heras. But years before Ryan made his Corrie debut, he made a number of appearances in Emmerdale back in 2011, shortly after graduating from a performing arts degree.

The Southport-born star was introduced as Flynn Buchanan, a love interest of Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller). Flynn first met Aaron in a gay nightclub, challenging him to a game of pool and winning.

Despite Aaron shutting down his advances, Flynn sent him a message asking for a date. The two continued to date over the next few weeks, however, Aaron struggled with regret over ending his relationship with Jackson Walsh (Marc Silcock), who was now a quadriplegic following a collision with a train.

Aaron was eventually honest with Flynn, revealing he still wanted to be with Jackson. Flynn admitted he was happy that Aaron was finally being honest with him and their relationship ended, leading Aaron to reconcile with Jackson.

But unable to live life as a quadriplegic, Jackson begged Aaron to help end his life – and he did. Ryan returned for a guest appearance later in 2011, with Adam Barton (Adam Thomas) spotting Flynn on a night out.

Aaron headed over to see his former flame and Flynn confessed he was happy to see him. They spoke about Jackson's death before Aaron left Flynn in the bar.

After his first stint, Ryan admitted he felt "weird" when he was recognised for his role in Emmerdale. He told The Champion: "The storyline in Emmerdale was so big already that it's brought a lot of publicity, I signed my first couple of autographs the other day which was weird."

The same year, Ryan played a character called Gavin Ruskin in an episode of Holby City. Ryan did a stint in another medical soap when he was cast as Liam Slade, a bursary student of Heston Carter's (Owen Brenman) in Doctors.

The actor starred in the role for several episodes in 2013 and briefly reprised the part in 2018, in a performance that saw him nominated for the coveted Villain of the Year gong at the British Soap Awards.
