Strictly Come Dancing star Nigel Harman and Katya Jones revealed they “cut” their “training short” to be on The One Show, where they also took on some wise words passed on from ITV royalty Alison Hammond.
As the dancers enter week five of the dance competition, where the expectations are getting higher and higher, the duo were asked about their training schedule. Professional Dancer Katya Jones joked: “Yesterday, today, we had to cut it short to be here for you guys”.
Katya went on to say training has been going “really good” as the duo prepare to take on the Foxtrot this weekend, and hope to secure their position at the top of the leaderboard.
Sara Davies, who appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021, was also a guest on The One Show and passed on some wise words to Nigel and Katya that she received from This Morning ’s Alison Hammond.
Recalling her time on the show, the businesswoman and TV personality said: “The best piece of advice that I can give you, Alison Hammond said to me the exact week that I was doing that dance. She said ‘Just enjoy every second because you don’t know the moment it’s going to be taken away from you’, and she said ‘Don’t sweat the little stuff, just enjoy it’”.
Nigel appeared to take on the advice as he grinned from ear to ear and gave a gentle nod to Sara.
Discussing last weekend’s result show, which saw Jody Cundy CBE, become the third celebrity to depart the dance floor, Nigel said: “It’s hard, we know what it takes to go through every week so you don’t want to be the person that gets voted out, but you also don’t want anyone to get voted out.”
Jody and his dance partner Jowita Przystal were in the bottom two and performed their Salsa to Samba de Janeiro by Bellini, while Eddie Kadi and Karen Hauer performed their American Smooth to Sex Bomb by Tom Jones again.
All four judges unanimously voted to save Eddie, with Anton Du Beke pointing out he was stronger in the dance off.
This meant last year's Strictly Come Dancing champion was out of the competition and Jody would not progress to week five.
