With the fans getting behind Angela Rippon in abundance amid a heated series of Strictly Come Dancing, the esteemed presenter has apologised for her social media blackout, explaining that she needs time to focus on perfecting her routines.
Despite hitting her 79th birthday in less than a week's time, the British icon has defied the odds, performing to the standard of an athlete at the peak of her powers. And consequently, she has emerged as one of the fan favourites to win the whole thing.
While the likes of Bobby Brazier and Nigel Harman still claim their place at the top of the bookies' odds lists, having already seen off Les Dennis, she's slowly cementing her place as a dark horse.

In the opening show, Angela caught the attention of the viewers with a remarkable Cha Cha Cha to 'Get the Party Started'. Not only did she show enthusiasm and a will to learn, but the talent to become an exceptional dancer.
And now, having hit the ground running, she's hoping to prove that she's much more than just a flash in the pan. Next up, the show brings back Movie Week, and the dancers will be grooving to their favourite theme songs, with a Quickstep.
Showcasing their determination to produce a showing reflective of their optimum ability, the pair have ignored social media, concentrating entirely on technique and polish. However, knowing they have legions of fans chomping at the bit for an update, Kai offered an apology.
He said: "Long working week actually of training. Sorry, we haven't been very active on socials. Naughty us. We've been working hard on the old quickstep, which we've discovered is very quick and has lots of steps. "
However, while the pair are undeniably taking things extremely seriously, it's fair to say that there's a great deal of humour in their relationship as well. Showing off her playful side, Angela took aim at the man who's guided her to becoming a skilful dancer.
Determined to blow the nation away once more, she replied: "That's not what you said at the beginning of the week. Look at what changes in a week. We've had a lot of fun doing it. We'll do our best as always."
Strictly Come Dancing returns for week two tomorrow night, and who knows what might happen next? With heavy hitter Les Dennis falling at the first hurdle, it's difficult to say who the next victim of the dreaded 'Dance Off' will be.
