Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) and Zack Hudson (James Farrar) receive huge news in EastEnders next week after a visit from the social worker.
The couple, as viewers will know, have decided to foster. Their decision came months after the death of their beloved baby girl Peach, who had Edward’s syndrome.
Although Whitney wanted to have a family with Zack, she concluded that she couldn’t put her body through pregnancy again following her tragic loss and therefore the couple resolved to foster.
The pair subsequently embarked on their fostering journey, finding a flat of their own as they moved out of No.1, much to the upset of Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams), who had grown accustomed to having best pal Whitney living under her roof.
The day of their fostering assessment arrives in upcoming scenes, as Whitney and Zack sit down with social worker Jan.
The discussion requires the couple to go through their past, with Whitney having to talk about her abuse by Tony King.
Afterwards, Whitney is left worried that what happened to her might impact her chances of fostering, but this isn’t the case with she and Zack set to receive big news later in the week.
As they wait on tenterhooks, Jan arrives to inform them that they’ve been approved for the next stage of their fostering application, adding that she believes they have much to give children in the fostering system.
Our hearts are full.
Whitney, however, is set to leave EastEnders next year, with actress Shona McGarty having quit the show after 15 years, so how exactly the character’s story arc will pan out remains to be seen.
One to watch: Friday October 4 at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
