A fashion fan has taken to Reddit to question whether she can reuse a dress she wore to a summer wedding for her work Christmas party – with some users saying it’s too summery and revealing.
The woman from Bristol, who goes by @peregrine_midnight on the app, posted into the PlusSizeFashion thread asking for feedback on her ÂŁ38 frock. Â
She shared a picture of herself donning an asymmetrical sage green dress, with the material on one side coming down just past her knees, paired with open toe heels.Â
She wrote of the ASOS DESIGN Curve cowl neck pencil midi dress: ‘Wore this dress to a wedding in the summer. Do you think it would be ok for my work Christmas party?Â
‘Donât have many dresses that I like. Always feel self conscious in dresses and is hard to find ones to fit my chest and also bum. Thank you.’

The Reddit user opted for the ASOS DESIGN Curve cowl neck pencil midi dress, costing £38
Users were quick to chime in with their opinions and compliment the dress.
One Redditor wrote ‘the dress is beautiful, and you look gorgeous in it. In my opinion itâs a bit too summery for a Christmas party. I guess it depends on venue and dress code.
She suggested ‘maybe you could add darker accessories? like a dark green shawl/cardigan as well as a darker shoe and some nylons/tights to make it more winter appropriate’.
Another agreed ‘Love this dress! Where is it from?’ before advising ‘Itâs a summery dress so youâll definitely want to style it for winter with tights and some layer on top like a cardigan, wrap, faux fur jacket, sparkly blazer or a roll neck underneath if youâre feeling fashion-y!
‘Style it with whites and silver or gold, think âfrosted peppermint Christmas cookieâ!’
Others penned ‘Would be sooooo pretty with a faux fur jacket omg’ and ‘Yes definitely.. a bit of sparkle needs adding for a Xmas vibe. I love outfits you can wear multiple times in different seasons’.
However, some users dubbed the frock as ‘too summery’ and ‘too chesty’ for a work event.
Someone explained ‘I love the dress on you, but the neckline is waaaay too deep and the slit up the side is also a bit too far for a company party’.Â

Another added ‘It depends on what you do for a livingâŠ. As a summer dress itâs ok but depending on the type of Xmas party, it may be a bit over the top in how revealing it is’.Â
Someone else suggested ‘I think it looks lovely on you but would look better in a more saturated color’.Â
Meanwhile, one user wrote ‘Too summery for winter. Too chesty, too much leg for a work event’.Â
Others gushed ‘I love this on you!! I support you wearing this anytime for any reason’ and ‘Beautiful, but wonât you freeze!!!??’
One fan of the mint dress, penned ‘Dark green tights, white cardigan (wrap style for some flattering modesty and warmth or maybe something with pearl accents)Â
‘You could do either copper, pale pink or even red accessories and you are good to go.
‘Though with your tone I think the first two colours would compliment you well. Think soft pink and copper or rose gold’.Â
Another agreed ‘I like it and second the suggestion for winterizing it.Â
‘Some warm tights, a sweater/coat something and maybe a cute Santa hat!Â
‘A necklace that has lights or ornaments or fuzzy tinsel type deal to it would be pretty fun!Â
‘Something to make it more Christmas themed would fit right in! Unless it’s a formal work party (how boring) lol’.
