Queen Letizia of Spain dons a festive red dress and ruby earrings to chair Cervantes Institute’s annual meeting in Asturias

The Spanish Queen added some seasonal chic to her sartorial choices during a solo engagement in the Spanish town of Aviles on Tuesday – wearing a festive red dress and black heeled boots.
The 51-year-old was chairing the annual meeting of the directors of the Cervantes Institute, which promotes Spanish culture and the learning of the language, during her trip to the Asturias region.
Letizia wore a long black overcoat and black clutch bag by one of her favourite designers, Carolina Herrera, as she arrived to chair the meeting of 80 directors from the Spanish language centre this morning.

Wearing her long brunette hair loose, with a red lip that complemented the colour of her fine-knit dress, the stylish Queen also wore a pair or ruby drop earrings to complement her dress, which was cinched in at the waist with a black belt.
According to Spanish newspaper El Mundo, the royal also wore a high-heeled, knee-high black boot by Spanish department store brand El Corte Inglés.
The Spanish royals will welcome the Christmas break – after a difficult few weeks following Queen Letizia’s ex-brother-in-law sensationally claiming to have had a relationship with her both before and after her wedding to King Felipe.
Jaime Del Burgo, 53, who is currently based in the UK, has recently contributed to a tell-all book about the Spanish royal, where he makes the far-fetched claim they were still romantically involved after Letizia’s 2004 wedding to King Felipe.

The entrepreneur – who claims he was dating Letizia when she met King Felipe – shared an undated selfie the Queen, 51, took in a bathroom mirror during one of her pregnancies as ‘evidence’ of their relationship on X.

Chatting with directors from the Madrid-based institute, Letizia looked on sparkling form; the royal will soon press pause on her appointments for the Christmas season
The teenager looked completely in her element as she completed military training exercises in the snowy mountains of Spain on Tuesday.
The royal – who celebrated her 18th birthday in October – was pictured braving the freezing cold temperatures in Astún this morning.
Leonor’s military uniform also consists of green trousers and matching hat.
The royal tied her long hair into a bun and tucked it mostly into the back of her jacket.

The future Queen appeared in particularly high spirits as she happily posed for a group photo.
The Spanish royals are likely to be glad of the Christmas break after an intense few weeks following claims by Letizia’s former brother-in-law that the Queen had an affair with him before and after her marriage to King Felipe VI
The trip to the mountains is part of Leonor’s training at Zaragoza Military Academy.
Following in her father and grandfather’s footsteps, the royal enrolled in the academy in August and is completing three years of training there.
When she first arrived at the academy, Leonor completed a module to help her adapt to military life – with the Palace releasing images of the royal taking part in lessons in the classroom.
According to heraldo.es, she is staying in a cabin with as many as twelve other students and was given basic military equipment before the first training session.

During her three years at the academy, Leonor will be entitled to a salary of €417-a-month. However, the palace has said she will not claim the salary.
Rather like a boarding school, the military academy follows a strict timetable during the week. but Leonor will be free to return home at the weekends if she’s not on manoeuvres.
Leonor graduated with the International Baccalaureate from the UWC Atlantic College in the Welsh county of Vale of Glamorgan in May.
After training at the General Military Academy in Zaragoza, which is Spain’s equivalent to Sandhurst, she will go to naval school, and will complete her three years at the General Air Academy.
In July, the princess revealed her enthusiasm for soon being a cadet at the Princesa de Girona Foundation award ceremony in Girona, in Catalonia.
She said: ‘I have just finished high school and I am about to start a new stage with a period of military training.
