Grace Dent was one of the 12 contestants who entered the Australian jungle this month to participate in the 23rd series of I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! However, after just one week of camp life, the 50 year old food critic has unfortunately had to leave the show due to medical reasons.
A show spokesperson said on her behalf: "Unfortunately Grace Dent has left the show on medical grounds. She has been a great campmate and will be missed by her fellow celebrities and viewers alike."
While we all get used to Grace's early departure from the iconic reality show, let's take a look at what she gets up to away from the cameras. From her work as a restaurant critic to her personal life, here's everything you need to know about Grace Dent…
Grace has had a successful career in journalism and the media
Grace began her media career back in the 1990s after she graduated from the University of Stirling.
From landing her first job as an editorial assistant at Marie Claire to freelancing at Cosmopolitan and Glamour, Grace moved into the world of food journalism in 2011 after accepting the role of restaurant critic for The Guardian.
Since then, she's been a regular critic on Masterchef UK, appeared as a judge on BBC Two's Great British Menu and joined forced with Ainsley Harriott to help present the Channel 4 show, Best of Britain By the Sea, where the duo explored "some of the best seaside holiday destinations and mouth-watering dishes the British Isles has to offer."
The 50 year old is also the host of Comfort Eating with Grace Dent, a podcast launched by The Guardian.
Is Grace in a relationship?
Grace is in a long term relationship with her partner, Charles, however, it seems that she prefers to keep her private life out of the public eye.
While speaking to Kate Thornton on the podcast White Wine Question Time, Grace revealed how the couple got together. "It was very gradual because we followed each other [on social media], because we knew people in common.
It's a very modern but very mundane way of people getting together. One of you leaves a comment and then the other one leaves a comment back, but it was after about a year and a half, two years of leaving comments [that we met up]."
She also opened up in 2022 about their living situations in an interview with The Evening Standard, which she has also written for. Grace explained that the pair live separately because they both have their own homes.
However, she added that the "reality is he’s in my house most of the time, making a mess, eating food from my fridge and being looked after."
Grace has openly spoken about not having children
In 2018, Grace wrote an article for The Guardian about her decision to not have children. Dubbing the summer holidays as "my annual reminder why I don't want to have kids," Grace confessed that she likes children, "just not enough" to have her own.
"This still feels like a radical thing for a woman to say," she added, before rounding off the piece by commending other families for "raising the future," and labelling them as "amazing."
