Benidorm couple Adam Gillen and Laila Zaidi have revealed their engagement – five years after falling in love while filming the ITV show.
The actors shot to fame playing Liam and Cyd on the iconic TV show – which followed the comedic lives of holiday-goers at a Spanish resort. Adam and Laila first struck up a relationship in 2018 – the same year the hit show was axed.
And things are still going strong for the pair as on Wednesday (September 27) they announced to fans that they had gotten engaged. Laila took to her Instagram to share the news with a slew of loved-up snaps.

The happy couple looked smitten in the series of snaps from Croatia as Laila showed off her jaw-dropping ring. Adam and Laila were holidaying there when Adam popped the question.
Laila captioned the stunning snaps: “A whole week of being a diiiirty flirttttyyy thirty FIANCÉ!!!!!!! [ring emoji] [nine heart emojis]." And their celeb pals were quick to send their congratulations.
Game of Thrones actress Nathalie Emmanuel wrote: "Awwwww congratulations!!!" while Fresh Meat's Greg McHugh penned: “Congrats yous legends of love!!!!”
Fans will remember Adam's character Liam joined Benidorm in 2011 as the son of Les Conroy, played by Tim Healy. Having been introduced as a holidaymaker in the fourth season, Liam later had jobs at the all-inclusive resort on the ITV series, including being a maintenance worker.
However he later switched careers and went to work with Kenneth Du Beke (Tony Maudsley) at the Blow 'n' Go salon. While Laila joined the show as Cyd, Rob Dawson's fiancee, in the final series.
It’s fair to say Adam looks totally different nowadays from his character. On the show, he appeared fresh-faced and with red hair, but nowadays, he's gone grey and sports a full face of facial hair.

Benidorm ended in 2018 with staff at the Solana Hotel worried when they learned it was being sold and taken over. Since then, there have been rumours of another series, but actress Siobhan Finneran, who appeared as Janice Garvey, has denied them.
She previously told The Sun that the cast and crew did reunite at a comedy convention, but "sadly" the speculation was just rumours. Siobhan added: "You should probably never say never to anything so popular but as far as I know it won't be coming back at any point."
