Jasmine Harman speaks out after breaking down over mum’s issue on This Morning

Jasmine Harman gets emotional speaking about mum’s hoarding

A Place In The Sun presenter Jasmine Harman has been inundated with support after her emotional appearance on This Morning today.

The property expert and her mum joined hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary to discuss how their lives had changed, over 10 years on from initially highlighting the issue in documentaries My Hoarder Mum and Me and Britain’s Biggest Hoarders.

During the chat, Jasmine broke down in tears as she recalled being embarrassed by the way they lived and how it had caused arguments between her and her mum in her younger years.

Taking to Instagram after the show, the presenter addressed her emotional appearance and thanked the hosts for their support.

Alongside a picture of Alison, Dermot and her mum, she wrote: “Some of you may have seen me and Mum appearing on @thismorning today, discussing Hoarding Disorder along with Jo from @hoardingdisordersuk.

“Over a decade on from the documentaries My Hoarder Mum and Me & Britains’s Biggest Hoarders I’m still as emotional as ever, and it is still something so many people are struggling with.”

Jasmine went on to share a support page for any other sufferers who need help, adding: “What are your experiences with hoarding?”

Concluding her post, she thanked Alison and Dermot for “being so lovely and welcoming”.

Many of the presenter’s 138,000 followers were quick to send Jasmine supportive messages in the comments section.

During the discussion, Jasmine explained to viewers: “The hoarding is a symptom of a deeper rooted problem, to take away someone’s coping strategy without resolving the underlying problem, then you’re just exacerbating the problem.

“For me, I would say, the thing I have learned over these years is that I concentrate more on having a loving relationship with my mum.”

“And not focusing on her hoarding,” she added while getting emotional.

Alison went on to console Jasmine as she fought through her tears, adding: “I’m so grateful to her because she’s… Sorry… She’s helped me to become a much more compassionate person.

“We used to fight, didn’t we? We used to argue about it all the time. But now, we have a relationship outside that’s not focused on the hoarding.”

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
