Loose Women: Lucy Benjamin says Steve McFadden looked after her
Lucy Benjamin, who played Lisa Fowler in BBC’s EastEnders, has reportedly split from her husband Richard Taggart after 17 years of marriage.
The couple, who share two daughters, allegedly hit a “rough” patch and, despite efforts to make their relationship work, decided to call it quits.
A source claimed: “Lucy and Richard tried to make it work but ultimately decided it was best they split up.
“It’s been rough for them both in recent months but hopefully they can now start looking forward to the future.
“Their children will always be their number one priority,” they added to The Sun.

Lucy, 53, and Richard met during a flight to Dubai in 2005 and were engaged six weeks later.
They married in 2006 and welcomed their daughter, Bessie, 16, a few months later.
Famously, Sharon Osbourne accidentally revealed Lucy’s pregnancy during a live episode of The X Factor: Battle of the Stars, which Lucy would go on to win.

Four years later, Lucy and Richard welcomed a second daughter, Rosie, who is now 12.
The I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! star previously opened up about their “whirlwind” relationship, telling Woman and Home in 2016: “He was sat next to me and while I was reading a book.
“He tapped me on the shoulder and said, ‘This must be strange for you because I know a lot about you and you don’t know anything about me, but my name’s Richard and I’m going to Dubai’.
“Fortunately, I found it very funny and we didn’t stop chatting. We were engaged within six weeks – and married within nine months.”
She added to Great British Life in 2019: “It’s quite romantic and people are always impressed by that story.”
Prior to meeting Richard, Lucy was in a relationship with her EastEnders co-star Steve McFadden from 1999 until 2003.
She was reunited with the Phil Mitchell actor in 2017 when she briefly reprised her role as Lisa.
Speaking about working together again, Lucy said on Loose Women at the time: “It was strange really but within 10 minutes it was like I’d never been away.
“It was like having old mates back and I knew they would look after me on my return…It was more about the history of Lisa and Phil and you resort back to those storylines. I didn’t have to think about me and Steve in the old days.”
