Strictly: Claudia Winkleman wears glittery outfit with stars
Claudia Winkleman has revealed her children are desperate for the presenter to leave her “embarrassing” Strictly role – but she’s adamant she’s continuing.
As she gears up for this year’s 21st series, launching this month, she’s given fans a recap on how keen her kids have been for her to stop over the years.
“[My eldest son] said to me, ‘Mum, you have got to stop doing Strictly, it’s so embarrassing and my teacher has mentioned it,'” she recalled.
The 51-year-old then firmly reminded him that fronting the show allows her to provide for him financially, pointing out: “See those trainers, Jake?”
Her eldest son, now 20, who has a 17-year-old sister, Matilda, and a 12-year-old brother, Arthur, swiftly apologised: “Okay, sorry.”

Claudia made the comments in an interview with pal Kirsty Young at the Edinburgh TV Festival, after picking up an Oustanding Achievement award for Strictly.
According to her, there’s no chance of quitting the show she finds so “thrilling” anytime soon, no matter what the kids she shares with film producer Kris Thykier might say.
“My only job is to make sure [the contestants] are OK and to stop speaking on time,” she joked.
“I know I’m not allowed to say I just paint myself orange and I read out loud but really that is what I do most of the time… that’s the gig but it’s really, really thrilling!”

Meanwhile, the face of BBC show The Traitors claimed that during the months of the year when she can’t be seen on TV, she’s busily being an “annoying” mum to her brood of three.
Speaking to MailOnline at the No7 Pro Derm Scan launch party, she joked that they beg her for space.
“I follow them around and I’m a very annoying human being to them. They say, ‘Mum give us some space,’ and I say ‘No’,” she chuckled.
The TV host added: “I’m awful. It comes from my own mum!”
Meanwhile, Claudia is known across the nation for two physical traits – her unusually long fringe, and her tendency to take on an orange hue from fake tan.
She recently admitted that a BBC boss had even asked for her hairdresser’s phone number after she landed her Strictly role, so he could request her style to be toned down.
Speaking at Edinburgh Festival last month, she explained: “Two days later, James, who does my hair, said, ‘This guy phoned up to complain about the length of your fringe.’
“He was like: ‘You can have this job but it’s just annoying, it’s down to your nose. You want to be on telly but you’re invisible!'”
