Alec Baldwin escorted away by police after shouting match with protestors

Pro-Palestine protesters clash with police in New York City

Alec Baldwin was caught up in a fierce row in New York during a pro-Palestinian protest.

Hundreds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators took to the streets to show their support for the country as it continues to fight back against IDF (Israel Defence Forces) soldiers.

Protestors were seen by Penn Station, the Port Authority bus terminal and Grand Central Terminal as well as near West 29th Street, crossing paths with actor and comedian Alec Baldwin.

The New York Post alleges that protestors were “accusing him of supporting Israel” and “a group berated Baldwin as cops stood between the group and the comedian who was against a door”.

It has been reported that Baldwin was on his way to volunteer to teach an acting class when he was caught up in the protests.

A source told New York-based freelance reporter Yashar Ali: “He [Baldwin] had no intention of going to the protest and was not involved in any way.”

They continued to allege that the 30 Rock star was “approached aggressively and repeatedly” with the police stepping in to “avoid further confrontation”.

Fox News reported that live-streamed footage showed Baldwin being asked by an activist: “Whose pocket are you in?” with the actor snapping back: “I’m in Hollywood’s pocket, you say?

“You ask stupid questions. Ask me a smart question.”

As he was led away from the scene by police officers, Baldwin said: “I want peace for Gaza though.”

Baldwin’s appearance came shortly after there had been some small fights breaking out between the protestors and police.

As the 65-year-old was escorted through the crowds, those at the scene could be heard questioning: “Why did you even come here?”

In a video shared by reporter Katie Smith, another asks: “I don’t get it, I don’t get it Alec”, as officers tell onlookers “Give us some room.”

Smith posted on X, formerly Twitter: “Actor Alec Baldwin, after walking through the protest and saying something to one of the protesters which apparently escalated the situation, is escorted away by a hoard (sic) of NYPD officers.”

NBC New York said that “tensions right there were very high, passions right there very high.”

The incident comes a couple of months after it was reported that Baldwin could be recharged with involuntary manslaughter against cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

While filming the Western movie Rust in October 2021, Baldwin was rehearsing a scene with a gun that wasn’t supposed to be loaded.

Hutchins was killed and director Joel Souza was injured with Baldwin and the film’s armorer Hanna Guitierrez-Reed who oversaw firearms on set, were charged earlier this year.

A few months later, the charges against Baldwin were dismissed but Gutierrez-Reed is expected to stand trial in February 2024.
