<\/p>\nTHERE has been rumours of a rift between the Beckhams and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry – and a recent move could have soured relations further.<\/p>\n
The footballing legend and his glamorous wife were pictured last week with former US president Barack Obama at a charitable event.<\/p>\n
\n<\/p>\n
According to an insider, Victoria\u2019s former pal Meghan, who is said to have \u201cpolitical ambitions\u201d, was less than thrilled with the alliance and the Beckhams\u2019 \u201cstateside takeover.\u201d<\/p>\n
Speaking to Closer, they claimed: \u201cSeeing the Beckhams involved with the Obamas\u2019 foundation leaves Meghan seething.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s another humiliating slap in the face. The Obamas were Meghan\u2019s dream ticket to political success and she put a lot of work into building on their relationship.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow, seeing the Beckhams enjoy that access has really set Meghan off and she\u2019s taking it personally.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cShe feels like the Beckhams have targeted and taken over what had been her own big plan.\u201d<\/p>\n Prince<\/span> Harry and David have enjoyed a close friendship over the years, but cracks have formed in the last few years.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Duke of Sussex allegedly called David to accuse him and his wife Victoria of leaking stories, leaving David \u2018furious.\u2019<\/p>\n David was also \u201csnubbed\u201d by Harry after flying for 22 hours from London to Sydney at the royal\u2019s request, for the 2018 Invictus Games.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Cracks first started emerging in the pair\u2019s friendship last spring<\/span> when the former footballer invited Prince William and Kate to his son Brooklyn\u2019s wedding – and not Harry and Meghan.\u00a0<\/p>\n At the time, a source said: \u201cDavid\u2019s attachment and history<\/span> go back with William<\/span> and Kate and they have a very strong relationship and they were their choice of wedding guests. It was always about them, it was never about Meghan and Harry.<\/p>\n \u201cThey are the people David and Victoria are attached to and it\u2019s always been about them because they\u2019ve had a long history<\/span> together.\u201d<\/p>\n And perhaps it wasn\u2019t a coincidence that after the apparent snub, Meghan, 42, seemingly stopped wearing Victoria\u2019s designs – while Kate wore them more frequently.<\/p>\n She wore one of the designer\u2019s dresses to an engagement in January and was spotted donning a pair of VB glasses at Wimbledon over the summer<\/span>.<\/p>\n She even reintroduced a Victoria Beckham bag to her wardrobe – taking the white Quincy tote<\/span> out on a royal visit in May, the first time she had been seen with it since 2016.<\/p>\n Since the Beckhams have appeared to further distance themselves from the Sussexes, a royal expert has claimed the move has strengthened David\u2019s friendship with Prince<\/span> William<\/span> and the King.\u00a0<\/p>\n Sarah Hewson, royal editor of Talk TV, said: "Perhaps by distancing himself from Harry and Meghan, it has helped David cement his relationships with William and the King. After all, he is due to meet with Charles for dinner soon. I think David has made it very clear whose side he is on.<\/p>\n \u201cDavid is a self proclaimed royalist.<\/p>\n "He queued for 12 hours to see the Queen lying in State and he has worked with the royals on several charitable campaigns<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n In the past, the Sussexes have claimed to be close to the Obamas, and Barack, back in 2016, supported Prince Harry in a jokey promotion for the Invictus Games.<\/p>\n It has been claimed Meghan also has political ambitions, and earlier this year it was revealed she paid nearly \u00a390,000 to Michelle Obama\u2019s ex press chief for \u201cstrategic support for social impact PR\u201d.<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/newspress-collage-pexz73yl7-1702893090225.jpg\")
