Took that,&#8217; he said. &#8216;And one said I apologized. I never apologized about assaulting anyone.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;But if two people say it, because one said it, and MeToo, and the second person said it, then I took a test for it. I think to judge 40 years ago as if it was today, we get in trouble.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We have to accept where we were and move on and be somewhere else in the future if we don&#8217;t like where we were. And I think we&#8217;re doing that now. And I think that&#8217;s the good that comes with MeToo.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Simmons said that there were &#8216;very gray&#8217; areas in which he might have processed a memory different than another person involved might have.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I can simply tell you that I was in so many compromising situations, that people can have a recollection from 30 or 40 years ago,&#8217; he said, &#8216;and it can be different from my recollection. Could some reimagine a story out of thousands of people?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He continued: &#8216;Could someone want notoriety in the market where people thirst for fame &#8211; even infamous?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Could someone who just came out of jail, and want to sue you because they had an experience and they can reimagine it just a little bit different? And could you be vulnerable enough to accept it?&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the interview, Simmons complained about how the allegations have impacted his life negatively, saying he has not &#8216;spoken to anyone for five years.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>He said, &#8216;It&#8217;s ruined my life. It&#8217;s ruined my relationships with everything. All my five charities have gone down.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><span>Simmons&#8217; family troubles spilled over publicly earlier this year when his ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons, 48, and daughter Aoki Lee Simmons, 21,\u00a0aired their grievances with him in June.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Aoki claimed he had been verbally abusive toward her earlier this year, sharing text messages and screengrabs of her communications with her father.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/08\/02\/78719035-12840017-image-m-59_1702001575925.jpg\" height=\"597\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Simmons added of his past conduct: &#8216;I think that the culture and the climate was different, and the way people interacted was different. I think to judge 40 years ago as if it was today, we get in trouble&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/08\/02\/78720945-12840017-image-a-61_1702001621499.jpg\" height=\"361\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>In the interview, Simmons complained about how the allegations have impacted his life negatively, saying he has not &#8216;spoken to anyone for five years&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Aoki explained to Teen Vogue in September about her rationale in going public with details of her stormy relationship with her father, saying that he had negatively impacted her mental health with his mercurial conduct.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Part of it was already out there,&#8217; Aoki said. &#8216;There were reasons I thought it was reasonable to publish because it was playing out in, like, a silent bubble.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Aoki in June posted texts and video of her interactions with her father in depicting their fractured relationship.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She said the Def Jam co-founder had been &#8216;awful to [her] for years,&#8217; and that she&#8217;d had significant anxiety issues as a result.<\/p>\n<p>Aoki said that Russell &#8211; who previously\u00a0tried in vain to salvage his reputation following the sexual misconduct allegations with a publicity campaign &#8211; has not been well &#8216;for years.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>She wrote: &#8216;He needs help and won&#8217;t accept that.
