I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! campmate Sam Thompson was saved from a killer snake after one slithered near his bed as he was asleep.<\/p>\n
The ITV campmates had all been in bed when the small eyed snake, a highly venomous species, entered camp. Due to how dangerous it is, a camp ranger had to rush in to remove it. <\/p>\n
A show source said: "On Saturday night the camp had a very unwelcome visitor and the snake needed to be removed quickly and safely. The small eyed snake slithered in and was seen venturing near to Sam.<\/p>\n

"Luckily the rangers spotted it and were quick to act and swiftly removed the snake, without even waking Sam or the other celebrities." Rangers did well to spot the carnivorous snake, as they are black apart from having a pinkish underbelly.<\/p>\n

The source added to The Mirror: "Before going in the celebrities receive talks from the rangers and a medic and are made aware of the types of animals to look out for in the jungle. But of course it goes without saying they are under constant watch by the experienced rangers who know exactly when they need to jump to action.<\/p>\n
"On this occasion there was no way the snake would be left in there and danger was quickly averted for Sam and the rest of the celebs." Had the snake bitten Sam or his co-stars, they would need to be treated immediately.<\/p>\n

The small eyed snake, Latin name Cryptophis Nigrescens, grow between 50 centimetres and one metre long. At least one fatality in humans has been caused by a bite from the snake in the past.<\/p>\n
The venom which the snake creates contains a long-acting myotoxin that continues to attack muscle tissues, according to the Australian Museum. It can even attack the heart muscle, with effects lasting for days.<\/p>\n

A number of snakes have already been removed from camp this month. I'm A Celebrity camp. Health and Safety Officer Jeremy Douglas said: "We have had a lot of snakes on the site this year, possibly because it has been so humid. We have had pythons, and non-venomous and venomous species. You get small eyed snakes and brown tree snakes predominantly.\u201d <\/p>\n
