Now, however, Eleanor believes she\u2019s found a character that will finally allow her to move out of Demelza\u2019s shadow.<\/p>\n<p>She stars as Evie in The Couple Next Door, a sizzling tale of lust, grief and swingers in suburbia involving four achingly beautiful people who just happen to be neighbours.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Evie, and the drama as a whole, are very different from anything I\u2019ve done on TV before and potentially quite shocking,\u2019 says Eleanor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Which is just what I wanted. I was keen to break away from what I\u2019m best known for \u2013 costume dramas \u2013 and go to places I knew would stretch me. I wanted to break the mould and I think The Couple Next Door does that.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/23\/21\/78164659-12775353-Eleanor_Tomlinson_as_Evie_in_The_Couple_Next_Door_a_sizzling_tal-m-14_1700775130170.jpg\" height=\"1041\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Eleanor Tomlinson as Evie in The Couple Next Door,\u00a0a sizzling tale of lust, grief and swingers<\/p>\n<p>We first see Evie racing through dense woodland after a gun goes off in a chalet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Emerging from the property are her husband Pete (Alfred Enoch) and Danny and Becka (Outlander\u2019s Sam Heughan and Australian actress Jessica De Gouw), the couple\u2019s neighbours in Leeds. Then another shot is fired \u2013 with potentially fatal consequences.<\/p>\n<p>But what could possibly have triggered this? The action jumps back in time to Evie and Pete\u2019s arrival at their new home in a suburban cul-de-sac.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Attempting to come to terms with a tragic loss, Evie and Pete grow close to Danny and Becka \u2013 who, it soon transpires, are into wife-swapping.<\/p>\n<p>Danny takes Evie for a ride on his motorbike and there\u2019s a look of deep satisfaction on her face as she puts her arms around the toned torso of the handsome police officer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Pete, meanwhile, struggles to contain his feelings when a young couple Danny and Becka met on holiday arrive next door for the evening and Becka greets them dressed in lingerie.<\/p>\n<p>The first of a number of intimate scenes between Evie and Pete arrives at the end of the first episode, and Eleanor insists they\u2019re vital to the plot as the neighbours soon come to share each other\u2019s beds as well as a garden fence and the occasional barbecue.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We had an intimacy co-ordinator to help the four of us through the more explicit scenes, and she was brilliant.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;She\u2019d worked with Sam on Outlander and she made it an incredibly safe space for people to express themselves without feeling uncomfortable. Her presence allowed us to create some powerful sex scenes.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Eleanor says it was also fortunate the four leading actors became good friends during filming.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/23\/16\/78166355-12775353-image-m-15_1700755784599.jpg\" height=\"677\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Eleanor with her co-stars in the show.
