Kate Garraway reflects on interviewing Matthew Perry<\/h3>\n

Sean Penn appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored on Wednesday night and shared a touching tribute to the late Matthew Perry.<\/p>\n

Perry died at the age of 54 on October 28, devastating millions of fans of the hit NBC sitcom Friends.<\/p>\n

Oscar-winner Penn appeared in two episodes of the series and remembered the Chandler Bing star as a \u201ctalented guy\u201d from his time on set.<\/p>\n

He also praised the actor for being \u201cbold\u201d by openly talking about his substance abuse struggles in order to help others.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat a talented guy. I can’t claim to have known him well, but I liked him very much,\u201d Penn recalled.<\/p>\n

Morgan\u2019s guest confirmed he had spoken with Perry recently and had complimented his memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, released last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw him somewhat recently, and we were both catching a flight out of Los Angeles airport, and I complimented him on what I knew of his book,\u201d Penn continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hadn’t read the book, I had seen several of his interviews, and he seemed to be talking about it, had confronted it, and was very intelligent and bold about it and generously offering his experience to people to be helpful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Perry was found unresponsive in his hot tub the day he died – an official cause of death is still to be determined, but illegal drugs and alcohol were not involved.<\/p>\n

Penn admitted: \u201cIt’s tragic, I can’t say that I was terribly surprised.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don’t know what the whole coroner’s report things and everything, but I know he had done a lot of damage to his organs over the years.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, tough situation, and he got to do that, he got to leave that tale behind and he got to give a lot of joy to a lot of people with his talent. So, I wish his family well.\u201d<\/p>\n
