<\/p>\nCheryl struggled to fight back tears as she discussed how her late bandmate Sarah Harding will be remembered on Girls Aloud\u2019s upcoming reunion tour.<\/p>\n
On Friday (November 24), BBC hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp welcomed the noughties band onto The One Show. The group are set to return to the stage for the first time since the singer\u2019s death in the new year with a nationwide tour held in her honour.<\/p>\n
During the emotional interview, the 40-year-old singer promised fans the group will make it \u201cmagical for Sarah\u201d. The 30-year-old TV presenter asked the group how they felt about \u201cstepping forward into a new journey\u201d without Sarah, who sadly passed away at the age of 39.<\/p>\n

Loyal fans will know the Berkshire native was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer in 2020 and sadly lost her battle with the disease just two years later. Cheryl confessed that the group have struggled to keep going without her presence.<\/p>\n

She explained: \u201cIt\u2019s very odd, If I'm completely honest. We\u2019ve found every step of the way of this a bit weird. Being totally honest it will never be the same as it was.\u201d<\/p>\n
It was at this point that the brunette beauty got emotional and struggled to hide her tears as she placed a hand on Nadine Coyle\u2019s knee. She went on: \u201cBut we are just trying our very best to make it magical with Sarah in mind.\u201d<\/p>\n
The entire group including Nadine, Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh and Cheryl all appeared in black for the emotional interview as they discussed their first reunion after a decade out of the limelight. Kimberley added: \u201cWe\u2019d had loads of conversations coming up to our 20 year anniversary and obviously those conversations involved Sarah.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo sadly, after she passed away, that went out the window. We focused on other things. Then it was probably over the summer we spent a lot of time together.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a kind of shift I suppose, we felt such an outpouring of love towards the group and for Sarah. Suddenly, it just felt like, do you know what? Maybe we are ready to celebrate those 21 years. And also celebrate her.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cheryl agreed: \u201cBecause she wanted to do it so much as well. We\u2019re going to honour her the best way we can and make it magical.\u201d On August 2020, Sarah announced to her loyal legion of fans that she had breast cancer which had spread to other parts of her body.<\/p>\n
Taking to the social media site X \u2013 formerly known as Twitter \u2013 she explained that she initially dismissed the lump on her breast as a cyst during the pandemic. But she finally went to the doctors when her skin began to bruise, realising that something was seriously wrong.<\/p>\n

The star was rushed to hospital with sepsis, as well as a failing kidney and liver. The only way she could be saved was to be put into a medically induced coma.<\/p>\n
Sharing a snap from her hospital bed, she told fans she is \u201cfighting as hard as I possibly can\u201d. She later posted: \u201cEarlier this year I was diagnosed with breast cancer and a couple of weeks ago I received the devastating news that the cancer has advanced to other parts of my body.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m currently undergoing weekly chemotherapy sessions and I am fighting as hard as I possibly can.\u201d Unfortunately, on September 5, 2021, Sarah\u2019s mum Marie posed on Instagram that her daughter had passed away.<\/p>\n
