A former Premier League star has revealed he is currently banned from playing at one of the UK’s most expensive golf courses after annoying club chiefs with his drunken behaviour earlier this year.

The ex-midfielder made 90 Premier League appearances for three different clubs between 2005 and 2010.

The 45-year-old also has plenty of hobbies away from the pitch, including golf, and previously signed up to the swanky Sunningdale Golf Club in Berkshire, where it costs £92,000 to become a full member, with an annual fee of £9,500 taking it just past the £100,000 mark overall.

But former Wigan, Fulham and Hull City star Jimmy Bullard has confessed that his membership was taken away recently after he took things a bit too far following ‘a few drinks’.

‘I’m not allowed to go again,’ he told snooker legend Stephen Hendry.

‘I had a few drinks and I got carried away. I put a Peroni off the first tee and clipped a ball off it.

‘It’s obviously not the thing to do so I apologise.

‘If there are any Sunningdale members watching, I do apologise. I really want to come back.’

Bullard is known for his ‘cheeky-chappy’ antics that made him popular wherever he went during his career.

He first made the step up to the Premier League with Wigan in 2005 following their promotion, and earned himself a switch to Fulham a year later.

After two years at Craven Cottage he moved on to Hull, where he famously recreated Phil Brown’s half-time team talk on the pitch at Manchester City when celebrating a goal at the Etihad Stadium.

The then-Hull manager Brown saw the funny side of the celebration, but Bullard and Brown were unable to keep the team in the top flight in 2009-10.

Bullard (left) also co-hosted Soccer AM for six years before the show finished earlier this year

Bullard is also involved in a YouTube golf channel with Peter ‘Tubes’ Dale (right)

Bullard called time on his playing days in 2012, but has since carved out a successful TV career for himself.

He appeared on the fourteenth series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here in 2014, before joining Soccer AM as a co-host in 2017.

After initially working alongside John ‘Fenners’ Fendley and Lloyd Griffiths before the latter stepped down in 2019, Bullard and Fendley continued with the show until it was brought to an end this year.

He is also involved with a YouTube golf channel alongside Peter Dale, more commonly known as ‘Tubes’, who was a regular on Soccer AM over the years.
