Optus users have been unable to make calls or use the internet on Wednesday morning due to a major nationwide outage.<\/p>\n
The issue was first reported by users about 4am.<\/p>\n

A statement on the Optus website said the company was aware of the issue.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur engineers are currently investigating a network fault that is impacting Optus Mobile & Fixed customers in this area,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Melbourne\u2019s entire suburban train network has gone down due to a \u201ccommunications outage\u201d. It is unclear whether the issue is related.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are working to rectify this issue as soon as possible. Passengers should reconsider travel on the Metropolitan network and consider alternate travel arrangements until further notice,\u201d Melbourne\u2019s Metro Trains said.<\/p>\n
