A DENTIST has shared information about the hidden dangers that could be lurking inside your toothbrush. <\/p>\n
We use this innocuous-seeming object to clean our teeth twice a day – but it could be hiding all sorts of nasties. <\/p>\n

The surprising information came from Dr Ellie Phillips (<a href="https:\/\/www.tiktok<\/span>.com\/@drelliephillips" target="_blank" aria-label="@ Self-described as a "preventive dentist helping heal teeth naturally," she shares tips and facts about oral care with her 211,000 followers.<\/p>\n In a recent clip, she discussed what your toothbrush could be hiding and a simple trick that she uses to ensure it stays clean. <\/p>\n She said: "Toothbrushes get really dirty, especially when they're close to a toilet, in a damp climate, or in a place with high humidity, such as in your bathroom or shower.<\/p>\n "Humidity is the worst thing for growing molds and for allowing harmful bacteria to multiply inside the toothbrush bristles."<\/p>\n The dentist continued: "Here's what I want you to do to your toothbrush every single day to ensure that you have the best oral health possible.<\/p>\n "The only way to get rid of the bacteria which lives on and inside your toothbrush is to dry your toothbrush for 24 hours."<\/p>\n Dr Ellie recommended placing your brush in a cup or stand and allowing it to air dry for a full day.<\/p>\n <\/picture>ringing in change <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>MERRY XMAS <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>‘SECOND FRONT’ <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>‘BEEN A MINUTE’ <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n She said: "If your bathroom is used often by other people or is especially damp, bring your toothbrush into the bedroom or kitchen and allow it to dry near a window in the sunshine."<\/p>\n The influencer also suggests using different toothbrushes in the morning and evening, to allow it to dry for 24 hours before being used again.<\/p>\n Commenters loved Dr Ellie's informative and approachable advice. <\/p>\n One person said: "Good tip! I like how you explained it. I usually put my toothbrush in my room, away from the bathroom."<\/p>\n Another commenter wrote: "Makes sense.
