Gino D'Acampo has taken aim at ITV bosses after a stunt for his new travel show went terribly wrong.

The accident is said to have occurred when he was filming a new series titled Emission Impossible with Fred Sirieix, which has reportedly now been halted, and members of the cast and crew were reportedly sent home and offered counselling following the incident in Austria earlier this month.

According to reports, Gino and Fred "repeatedly flagged concerns about health and safety" and were left "exhausted' due to the long hours filming the show. The reported accident is said to have happened when the TV chef went down a 200ft slide on a toboggan clutching a cocktail glass.

He is said to have been filming a piece to camera when a mother and her two children came down at 30mph and crashed into the TV star. The Sun report that there was "blood everywhere and one of the children had blood pouring out of his mouth".

The publication report that the mum and other child had concussion and an ambulance was called for Gino who was treated on-site. He was reportedly left bed-ridden and came down with a temperature of over 40 degrees, which he claims was due to "filming 12 to 14 hours" in freezing conditions.

Gino told the publication: "It was the worst shoot of our life. I am shocked I have not had a phone call from ITV to see how I am and I cannot wait to talk to them about all of this. After 22 years of working with them, I am in an accident and I get ill, and yet I don’t get a phone call; I smell a fish. I think ITV have no idea what happened."

A spokesperson for ITV has responded: "Contrary to reports the shoot for Emission Impossible, which was produced for ITV by an independent production company, was postponed owing to illness. We have robust and comprehensive policies which we implement contractually with our suppliers and partners. The independent production companies who make shows for us have primary responsibility for the duty of care of everyone they work with, both on and off screen. This includes establishing appropriate."

Emission Impossible was billed as a passion project for Gino and French First Dates star Fred as they set about trying to eat, sleep and travel as sustainably as possible in "inspirational" locations. The six-part series was also due to go around the Croatian islands.

In a statement announcing their new show at the time, Gino and Fred said: "We’re thrilled to be upcycled by ITV for another action-packed adventure and can’t wait to cook up some fantastic sustainable dishes whilst hopefully stirring up debate around these important issues.
