<\/p>\nAN INFLUENCER has revealed how she discovered \u00a312k worth of flooring underneath her rotting red carpet while renovating her first home.<\/p>\n
After moving into her \u201cfixer upper\u201d, Anya Clements and her partner Calum Jones began making changes throughout their home while trying to stay on a budget.<\/p>\n
\n<\/p>\n
That\u2019s when the first time buyers hit the renovation jackpot.<\/p>\n
After ripping up her \u201cugly red carpet\u201d, the 22-year-old was shocked to find luxury oak parquet flooring covering the entire downstairs floor.<\/p>\n
Oak parquet flooring can typically cost between \u00a320- \u00a380 per sq.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was over the moon," she says. \u201cWe saved lots of time and money by not getting new flooring and it was the floor we were going to get there anyways."<\/p>\n
Anya was initially unsure of the floor\u2019s true value, so decided to get a second opinion.<\/p>\n "I felt speechless," she says. "I didn\u2019t realise flooring could cost so much.<\/p>\n \u201cThe floor was beautiful and similar to what we were going to put there so we fell in love with it.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have started to sand it by hand and varnish it ourselves."<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Anya and Calum, 28, are doing the full renovation themselves in their Cardiff home. <\/p>\n The first-time buyers bought the property in August. <\/p>\n \u201cHand-sanding takes a lot of time and effort but we are aiming to do as much as the renovation ourselves to keep the cost down," she explains.<\/p>\n \u201cThe \u00a312k flooring hasn\u2019t cost us a penny."<\/p>\n Anya has been documenting her renovation journey on TikTok, reaping in mass comments at her lucky find. <\/p>\n Karen said: \u201cDo you want to send some of that luck my way.
