In water, it can be surveyed to find cultural sites. <\/p>\n<p>There are a few Bergepanther tanks remaining in the world, but the\u00a0tank\u00a0enthusiast believes his uncovering to be one of a kind.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe wreck of the Bergepanther Ausf. D from Siebert factory is the only one existing in the world \u2013 as far as I know,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>The Bergepanther was introduced in 1943 because of the difficulties faced by the Nazis in recovering lost tanks.<\/p>\n<p>Up to that point, they\u2019d struggled to recover their Panzers with trucks, and other tanks were banned from helping to prevent losing both vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The Bergepanther, however, boasted a winch capable of pulling even heavier tanks, and sufficient armour to shield it from bullets.<\/p>\n<p>Local historian Konrad Maj said there were five such Bergepanthers stationed in the area from late 1944, where the Nazis\u2019 16th Armored Division was awaiting a Soviet attack.<\/p>\n<p>But by mid-January 1945, the Germans found themselves surrounded, and in the rush to retreat some tried to cross the Czarna Nida without finding a bridge. <\/p>\n<p>During this attempt, the now recovered Begepanther sunk.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Maj said: \u201cSoviet engineering troops reported that the ice on Czarna Nida allowed only lighter vehicles to cross \u2013 it was not suitable for tanks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The tank will now remain at the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw, which called the vehicle an \u201cabsolute rarity\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Mr K\u0119szycki lamented that the Panzer Farm, a museum and vehicle restoration company, would not get to keep its discovery.<\/p>\n<p>However, he said that the recovery itself was a \u201cdream experience\u201d.<\/p>\n<h2>Read More on The Sun<\/h2>\n<p><source media=\"(-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio: 1.5)\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/newspress-collage-24434629-1697562635452.jpg\"><source data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/newspress-collage-24434629-1697562635452.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/newspress-collage-24434629-1697562635452.jpg\"><\/picture><span>BRICKING IT <\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Warning over heating &#x27;hack&#x27;
