AS THE October half-term fast approaches, parents will be on the hunt for activities that won't break the bank.

Luckily enough, there's one clever way families can bag free tickets to some of the UK's best attractions this October.

Thanks to National Rail's Days Out Guide, Brit holidaymakers can get2-for-1 entry at 350 attractions across the UK, which means one ticket is completely free.

There are hundreds of properties taking part in the promotion, including The London Dungeon, The Blackpool Tower Eye, The ArcelorMittal Orbit, and Warwick Castle.

In addition to these well-known UK attractions, several top destinations are also running bespoke Halloween events too.

One of those is the Legoland Discovery Centre’s Brick or Treat: Monster Party in Birmingham.

Guests will be able to watch a Halloween-themed 4D film called The Great Monster Chase, and they'll also be tasked with building Lego pumpkins.

A free ticket to the Legoland attraction will save a full-paying adult £23.

Meanwhile, RHS Wisley in Surrey is hosting a family-friendly autumn trail with pumpkin carving, creepy crawlies, and spooky stories.

Adult tickets normally cost £16.50 per person.

Several theme parks are also running Oktoberfest events for older parkgoers that are also included in the 2-for-1 scheme.

Both Thorpe Park and Alton Towers are hosting their own Oktoberfest celebrations, complete with traditional German food, beer, Bavarian music, and entertainment.

Other potential days out include Leeds Castle, Madame Tussauds Blackpool, and the Bear Grylls Adventure in Birmingham.

National Rail has partnered with illustrator Becky Barnicoat to mark the half-term activities.

The illustrator has designed a cartoon strip that depicts the magic of train travel in the UK.

To bag the 2-for-1 tickets, head to the Days Out Guide website and click on "UK Days Out".

On the website, simply pick the attraction you'd like to visit and download or print, the 2-for-1 voucher.

To redeem the voucher, guests will need to travel via train to their attraction of choice.

Vouchers and train tickets will need to be presented to staff at the venue for the half-price entry tickets to be redeemed.

But the National Rail vouchers aren't the only way families can get reduced – or even free – entry to UK attractions.

Sun Online Travel recently revealed that it's possible to get free tickets to UK attractions if it rains.

This is because lots of attractions offer a rainy day guarantee, but visitors will need to check the list of eligible wet weather days provided by the site.

According to one mum, the little-known trick has saved her family hundreds of pounds.

Another mum has revealed how she takes her whole family away in October half term every year for just £100.

Meanwhile, these are the best UK attractions with free annual pass upgrades.

And these are the best free days out in the country.
