Loose Women star Ruth Langsford had to apologise live on air after producers made a blunder on today’s episode (October 9).

The TV presenter was joined by Brenda Edwards, Coleen Nolan, and guest panellist and Coronation Street star

for the latest instalment of the ITV daytime show.

Main presenter Ruth introduced the show and, as usual, teased viewers with the topics they had coming up on the programme.

However, she was left red-faced as she had to quickly cover up for a mistake made behind the scenes.

As she announced that they would be having Paris Fury on the show as their special guest, a clip of Big Brother's launch episode was played out instead, with Paris's name along the bottom.

Ruth then tried to continue reading from the autocue before bursting out laughing at the awkward blunder.

Giggling awkwardly, she apologised to viewers, saying: “Sorry, I’ve realised that's completely the wrong clip, we're going to be talking about Big Brother last night."

The live audience couldn't help but laugh at the mistake as Ruth joked: "But anyway, these things happen; it's Monday morning. It's been the weekend.”

She added: "Now we're going to talk about Big Brother if we can find the right clip."

Last night, Big Brother returned to ITV for the highly-anticipated reboot, but one change to the format left some viewers disappointed.

Unlike previous series of the show, first on Channel 4 and then Channel 5, the ITV version of the show had a pre-recorded launch. Previous editions had always had live launches, which left fans with a lot of opinions.

Posting on X, formerly Twitter, one viewer complained: "I cannot articulate how much of an awful decision it was to pre-record #BigBrotherUK and edit the launch #bbuk. But can we please hear a little commotion for AJ’s bodysuit?"

"Okay, I’m not a fan of the launch not being live; it’s far too edited. #bbuk," added another, while a third penned: "Probably too soon to say, but this isn’t working without the live element, Davina or Emma #BBUK." And a fourth added: "Hating the pre-recorded vibe already. Execute! #BBUK."

The new series of the show is hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best, with the original narrator Marcus Bentley making a return to the show.

Ahead of the launch, Marcus opened up to OK! about his and his family's excitement, telling us: "My children are in their early twenties, and it’s been a big part of their life.

"My youngest were babies when the show first started, and they’ve grown up with it.

"They didn’t watch Big Brother much, but my youngest daughter gets a lot of her Big Brother knowledge from TikTok. She says, ‘Oh my God, dad, I can’t believe your voice is on this clip!’"
