TikTok influencers have taken to the popular social media app to speak out against Rishi Sunak's recent controversial comments about the trans community.

During the Tory Party Conference in Manchester, the Prime Minister made a speech addressing what pupils are being taught in schools.

He caused outrage to many when he declared that people can't be 'any sex they want to be,' declaring that you can 'only be a man or a woman'.

The Prime Minister said: "It shouldn't be controversial for parents to know what their children are being taught in school about relationships; patients should know when hospitals are talking about men or women."

"And we shouldn't get bullied into believing that people can be any sex they want to be. They can't; a man is a man, and a woman is a woman. That's just common sense."

The speech has sparked a huge debate on TikTok, with influencers now using their huge following to call Rishi Sunak out, accusing him of 'attacking the trans community.'

@Yung_pagoda, who runs a social commentary page on the app, gained over half a million views with his response in which he accused the Prime Minister of trying to distract the public from the government's failures.

He said: "The NHS is on its knees; they've backed out of every climate policy they were going to organize, and they're like 'oh, let's have a pop at the 0.4 percent of people in the UK; they're dangerous, they're rising up."

Meanwhile, popular TikToker and comedian Ayame P, who has almost 3 million followers, also gave her thoughts on the trans speech.

In a video, she said: "If you decide to stay quiet and support someone who actively promotes hate against a group that's already marginalized and already experiencing hate on a daily basis, then you are probably the lowest, most disgusting person, and I don't want you anywhere near me."

Lifestyle influencer and singer Maddie Grace Jepson usually makes light-hearted videos on the app, including a recent satire video with Kylie Minogue.

But Maddie was in tears as she spoke out about Rishi's comments, admitting she is 'rarely serious on the app.'

"I'm heartbroken, and I'm really sick to my stomach that this is happening in this day and age, and we really need to rally round and support this community more than ever," she said.

"I need you all to know that I will do whatever I can to support you and love you and know that you are not alone."

She concluded: "I urge those who support the Prime Minister not to speak to her ever again," calling his comments 'too far.

The TikTokers were quick to gain praise from their followers for using their platforms to speak out, with one person commenting on Ayame's video: "Ayamé for Prime Minister… immediately."

Another person also praised Maddie, penning: "As a trans person it’s ok to cry when u talk abt this, it’s nice to see your compassion, thank you."

While a third, thanked Yung_pagoda, saying: "Thank you so much for this. We need as many allys as we can get."
