The countdown until Christmas is officially on with less than three months to go until the start of the festive season.

And with the party season just around the corner, it’s natural to start thinking about all of the tasty treats coming our way – from Turkey with all the trimmings to mince pies.

For many, a delicious box of Celebrations chocolates is the perfect way to mark the occasion – but a new special edition of the tub is causing controversy.

The Bounty has long divided Celebrations fans, with many considering it the Marmite of the tub.

You either love them or hate them, with 22 percent of Brits saying it's their least favourite chocolate bar.

But in a shock move, Mars is now launching a limited edition box of Celebrations that only contains Bountys.

Named the Bounty Centrepiece, the new hexagonal box will only contain the coconut-filled snack.

And it comes despite the brand binning Bountys from Celebrations boxes altogether last year as part of a one-off Christmas trial.

Despite the desiccated coconut bar being described as 'the taste of paradise,' not everyone agrees, with the sweet coming out badly in a poll.

39% of Brits say they would support having Bounty bars scrapped from Celebrations.

The survey of 2,000 people also found that 18% would feel irritated if they opened a Celebrations tub to find only Bountys were left, and 58% said this would lead to a family argument.

28% also confessed they don't believe coconut belongs in a chocolate bar in the first place.

20% of those who took part in the poll also admitted to being ashamed of loving a Bounty, confessing that while it was their favourite, they keep it to themselves.

If you are one of the secret Bounty lovers, you will have to be quick, as there will only be 300,000 of the Limited edition Bounty-only boxes being stocked in selected Tesco stores across the UK.

But if Bountys aren’t for you, there is always the option of getting the original celebrations, and sticking to the beloved Mars, Snickers, Milkyway, Galaxy sweets, and the all-time favourite Maltesers.

Kerry Cavanaugh, business unit director at Mars Wrigley UK, said: "Last year, Bounty lovers made their voices heard, and it's time we gave something back.

“We hope the Bounty Centrepiece will help ease the pain we caused when we removed Bounty last year. We're excited to see how these tubs are received…are you a Bounty lover, or a hater?"
