Watch the unbelievable moment a black bear was caught on camera opening up a BBQ and gobbling all of the burgers.

Melanie Frieh, 26, from Naperville, Illinois, and her friends were cooking up an outdoor feast on a vacation in the woods when two bears unexpectedly dropped by.

After the group moved to the first floor balcony, they filmed footage of the bears nudging open the BBQ before they devoured the meaty burgers.

Meanwhile, having pierced a can of Diet Coke, they washed it all down with the fizzy drink.

Melanie said she had been stunned by the interaction, explaining: ‘My friends and I were on our annual friend vacation and were told by our Airbnb that is bear season and to be careful.

‘We were grilling the burgers on Saturday and saw bears heading towards us.’

The medical worker was in shock to see that the bears were heading towards her group and tried to make noises to scare them away.

She said: ‘We started screaming, banging pans, and tried our best to scare them away, but they were just unphased.

‘The grill was turned off quickly and we grabbed the burgers that had been cooked and ran inside as we were so scared.’

As they edged closer, the 26-year-old and her pals turned off the gas and ran up to a first-floor balcony to film the footage.

One of the bears can be seen nudging the closed lid with its nose, before lifting up the cover with its right paw, revealing 10 juicy uncooked patties on the grill.

The bear is joined by another, and between them they devour the burgers – and also enjoy a Diet Coke, managing to pierce the can and drink the soda.

She said:’ Seconds after [we escaped], the bear went up to the grill, took the ten remaining uncooked burgers, and ate them all.

‘The bear then found a Diet Coke which someone had left out before running inside and the bear then proceeded to drink it right after finishing the burgers.’

The video has emerged days after footage captured the moment a black bear nibbled through trays of enchiladas and tacos recently at Chipinque Ecological Park in San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León.

The viral TikTok video, which has gained more than 6 million views since it was posted Monday night, showed how a woman kept her calm and shielded a boy.

The bear got near the boy’s head and treated itself to each of the servings while it stood on top of the picnic table.

Amazingly, the family was not hurt in the incident and left the bear in the woods after the face-to-face encounter.

The four-legged creature didn’t appear to have a full stomach after nearly two minutes of chowing down on the traditional Mexican dishes.

It skipped over several drinks, knocking down a bottle before it walked across the table searching for more as a petrified girl remained motionless.

The bear subsequently stepped down from the table and walked over to an empty tray in search of more food as one of the family members continued to film from a distance.

None of the family was hurt in the incident, but earned a story to tell of the rest for their lives.

How refreshing! One of the bears bit into a can of Diet Coke to wash down the meaty burger meal

The incident comes four months after a black bear crashed a party San Pedro Garza García and checked out several of the options that were available on the buffet table before settling for one of the main dishes as startled guests and caterers looked on and laughed.

In October 2022, another black bear interrupted Ricardo Morales’ proposal to his girlfriend Cecilia Canabal at a restaurant in Chipinque Ecological Park.

Morales told DailyMail.com at the time that several people around them instructed him and Canabal to remain calm as the bear walked across the rose-covered floored.

‘Before the bear passes, we listened to the gardeners and the people from the hotel, from the restaurant, they told us not to be afraid,’ Morales said.

‘We looked over there and saw a black shadow, obviously. And this shadow was getting closer to us.’

According to a study conducted by the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, the state is home to at least 38 black bears.

Mexico’s Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources recognized the animal is an endangered species because parts of its habitat corridor have been urbanized over the years.

Officials at Chipinque Ecological Park have signs posted warning people what to do in the event they encounter bears.

Visitors are asked not approach them and to refrain from bothering them. They are also advised to keep food away from the bears and not to leave trash around.

‘Don’t feed them or throw food at them, and please don’t hit them,’ the agency warns.
