A MUM-OF-FIVE who is currently pregnant with twins at 44-years-old has hit back at people who say she\u2019s \u201ctoo old\u201d.<\/p>\n
Tanis Larson says that her mission is to \u201cchallenge the narrative of pregnancy over 35\u201d.<\/p>\n
\n<\/p>\n
She adds that people question whether her pregnancies were planned and ask her if she \u201crealises how old she will be\u201d when her babies leave school.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Content creator Tanis had her first child aged 32, her second aged 35 and her third aged 38.<\/p>\n
She had her fourth child aged 40, her fifth aged 42 and is currently pregnant with twins, she assumes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Alberta, Canada-based mum spent ten years pregnant but decided earlier this year to try again.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Tanis has used IVF to conceive her children and in her most recent cycle, asked for the transfer of two embryos at once so that she could have twins.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cJOY. That is the word I have in my heart for this upcoming transfer,\u201d she penned in the caption of an Instagram post in August.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s been so many years and I am excited to give our embryos a chance at rockin\u2019 this life with us.\u201d<\/p>\n Tanis froze her eggs back in 2010.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n She shares her IVF and parenting journeys on her social media profiles and has built up a loyal following.\u00a0<\/p>\n In one TikTok video, she shared why she is so passionate about posting about advanced maternal age, or geriatric, pregnancies.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI love giving others hope if they begin their families later in life,\u201d Tanis said.\u00a0<\/p>\n Fans repeatedly flock to the comments of her videos, which can tot up as much as four million views, to thank her for spreading a positive message about getting pregnant later in life.<\/p>\n \u201cThank you for telling us it\u2019s okay to have babies later on in life,\u201d one penned. \u201cI\u2019m 35 and still none.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis is so nice to see as I'm 33 dealing with infertility and thought it's too late for me,\u201d a second said. \u201cI still have time.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAs someone who just turned 30 and had all the people asking when I\u2019ll have kids, this makes me feel good,\u201d a third wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n Tanis replied that she \u201cwas there\u201d too with people questioning her family plans when she turned 30.<\/p>\n According to Kingston Hospital, most pregnancies in women aged 40 years and above will remain low risk to both mother and baby. <\/p>\n Studies have also shown that average maternal age in the UK is increasing.<\/p>\n One of the main risks for pregnant women over 40 is raised blood pressure, affecting roughly 1 in 10.<\/p>\n Around 1 in 50 will develop pre-eclampsia – raised blood pressure and protein in the urine.<\/p>\n<\/picture>TWIN-CREDIBLE <\/span><\/p>\n
