Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been accused of trying to gag teachers and students at a New York school they visited two years ago.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Public School 123 Mahalia Jackson, which is among one of the poorest in New York City,\u00a0in September 2021.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Meghan, 42, was dressed in a\u00a0$5,000 suit and Cartier jewelry to\u00a0read to second-grade students from her picture book The Bench while Harry, 39, sat down with the children.<\/p>\n
But advisors from their Archewell foundation demanded the Harlem school sign a clause which banned anyone from making negative comments, according to The Sun.<\/p>\n
The request was also related to any posts on social media ‘now or in the future’.\u00a0Sources close to the Archewell foundation have insisted that standard practice was followed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Freedom of information requests have revealed how the couple’s advisors at Archewell tried to protect their image.<\/p>\n
It also highlights how their team banned four British newspapers from attending an event at the World Trade Center, even though it is a publicly owned building.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Plans for the Sussexes’ trip began six months before the event and it was managed by\u00a0Toya Holness, a member of the couple’s PR team.<\/p>\n
Archewell representatives emailed the Department of Education three days before the visit to\u00a0Public School 123.<\/p>\n
They requested the ‘appearance release’ which included the gagging clause and asked them to run it by their lawyers.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Another email from\u00a0NYC schools press secretary Danielle Filson had asked for the best way to get it all agreed but it is not clear if the\u00a0Sussexes’ request was signed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The revelation comes after Prince Harry and Meghan made a surprise appearance at Kevin Costner’s ‘One805 Live!’ charity event for first responders on Friday.<\/p>\n
The couple were joined by their good friends Oprah and Ellen DeGeneres as they took another step into Hollywood royalty.<\/p>\n
The fundraising event – where ‘last chance’ tables cost $12,000 – was hosted at the $26million oceanside estate of Costner in Summerland and included noteworthy guests, including Katy Perry’s parents.<\/p>\n

Upon their arrival, the Duke and Duchess – who have just returned from a PDA-packed appearance at the Invictus Games in Germany – were spotted backstage chatting with Costner, his VIP guests, and senior police and firefighting service officials.<\/p>\n
Harry and Meghan were introduced onstage as special guests and Meghan presented Kevin with an honorary award – before doing a mini Royal-style walkabout to greet other attendees.<\/p>\n
Meghan, who’s recently pulled the plug on her Archetypes podcast, beamed for the camera throughout the event, while Harry was at times caught staring into the distance.<\/p>\n
Following their on stage moment, the couple made their way toward the VIP area where they were stopped by pop singer Katy Perry\u2019s mom and dad and posed for a selfie.<\/p>\n
