If you have arachnophobia, now is the time to prepare yourself to defend your home from eight-legged invaders.

The creatures head inside in September which can often cause havoc for Brits. But one woman has been hailed a "hero" by her followers after she shared her solution to the creepy-crawly problem.

Kamana Bhaskaran, who boasts over 190,000 followers on social media, shared her recipe for a DIY spider spray after responding to a fan who needed help clearing away with critters. The fan wrote: "Anything for spiders please? My two-year-old got terrorised the other day by seeing one on the curtains."

Kamana replied with a video, showing herself with a spray bottle containing her special solution. In the clip, she said: "Spiders coming into the house with the summer heat.

"Let me show you how to keep them away with this all natural DIY spider spray." The woman was then seen filling an empty spray bottle with water before adding peppermint oil and mixing the two liquids together.

She recommended to fans that they spray the mixture alongside the outside of the house, entryways, windows and corners. "The peppermint smell repels the spiders," Kamana added.

But it would appear the solution is also backed by experts. They recommend adding up to 20 drops of peppermint oil to water and spraying it around the house to make your abode a spider-free zone.

If you aren't a fan of peppermint, spiders apparently also don't like strong smells of lavender, eucalyptus, or citronella. TikTok users have since taken to the comments on the clip, hailing the woman a "hero" after testing out her solution and seeing some success.

One user said: "You're a hero. Thanks for sharing." Another added: "I’ve been doing this for a year and it works perfectly!"

"That's a great idea," a third commented. However, some people weren't happy about the solution as they argue that spiders help get rid of pests like flies and other insects that you might not notice until they're gone.

A user argued: "Why? They keep flies away! Up the spider!!" Another wrote: "No more spiders = lots more flies."
