Emmerdale fans are sure they've rumbled the "real" identity of Lydia Dingle's baby daddy after becoming sure it's "not evil Craig".

Craig and Lydia met after decades at a job fair, before Craig showed his true colours and raped Lydia at his office.

Lydia admitted to him that he was the father of her late son Toby, and the pair even went to visit his final resting place together before Craig's horrific rape twist.

In Monday's episode (September 11), Craig showed up at Wishing Well Cottage after Lydia called in sick to work, leaving her terrified once again.

Now, though, fans are sure that it's a simple case of mistaken identity, and suggested that Craig just borrowed the identity of someone else at the children's home they were both at.

If he saw the real Craig and Lydia getting along and got jealous, it makes sense that she might not recognise him after so long.

And if the 'imposter' Craig bore enough of a resemblance to Lydia's real friend, she might have trusted him to be who he said he is.

Taking to Twitter to share their theories, one fan wrote: "#Emmerdale am I the only one thinking Craig isn’t going to be the real dad to Lydia’s baby? Like I just need something positive to come out of this and make the real dad a nice guy and Craig’s lying."

Someone else penned: "Why do I feel like Craig isn't who he says he is in #Emmerdale? Like he's not Toby's father, he might have been at the children's home but was not the boy Lydia was friends with? Maybe the real Craig will come into it later and actually be nice?"

Others, meanwhile, are sure Lydia is pregnant again after her horrific ordeal.

One penned: "Lydia should be honest about what happened to her she will end up pregnant!! #Emmerdale."

Someone else speculated: "I imagine it's going to become much more complicated as Lydia discovers that she is pregnant… I have to say that the actor who plays Craig is acting the part very well, so sinister, suave and manipulative. Lydia will also agonise at the potential effect he will have on Samson…"

"What could make this more twisted is if Lydia falls pregnant," another fan agreed.

In threatening scenes during Monday's episode, Craig manipulated Lydia into keeping quiet, threatening her with losing her family and Samson's work experience if she tells the truth.

He then insisted on staying for dinner with Sam and his wife, leaving Lydia clearly feeling tortured as she begged him to leave.
