{"id":235453,"date":"2023-09-11T11:37:21","date_gmt":"2023-09-11T11:37:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lovemainstream.com\/?p=235453"},"modified":"2023-09-11T11:37:21","modified_gmt":"2023-09-11T11:37:21","slug":"who-did-patsy-kensit-play-in-eastenders-and-when-did-she-exit-the-soap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lovemainstream.com\/tv-and-movies\/who-did-patsy-kensit-play-in-eastenders-and-when-did-she-exit-the-soap\/","title":{"rendered":"Who did Patsy Kensit play in EastEnders and when did she exit the soap?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/jb_PATSY-KENSIT_Emma_17-9d2f-e1671537932700.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>EastEnders is set to be rocked by the return of Patsy Kensit in the role of Emma Harding in upcoming episodes.<\/p>\n<p>Emma, Lola Pearce\u2019s (Danielle Harold) estranged mum, caused ripples when she entered the soap earlier this year in the wake of her daughter\u2019s cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>She caused plenty of upheaval in Lola and daughter Lexi\u2019s (Isabella Brown) lives as she came and went at her leisure, much to the anger of Lola\u2019s husband Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) and Lexi\u2019s father Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden).<\/p>\n<p>Now, as Lexi returns to some form of normality after losing her mother, Emma is set to crash back into all of their lives.<\/p>\n<p>As we gear up for more chaos in the Square, many soap fans may need a refresher of when Emma first graced our screens and when she bowed out.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what you need to know.<\/p>\n<h2>Who did Patsy Kensit play in EastEnders?<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/themes\/metro-parent\/img\/fallback.png\"><\/p>\n<p>Patsy made her EastEnders debut in January when she entered the soap as Lola Pearce\u2019s estranged mum, Emma Harding.<\/p>\n<p>She arrived on the soap on January 25 after Billy (Perry Fenwick) and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) tracked her down in the run-up to her daughter\u2019s wedding to Jay.<\/p>\n<p>Emma questions why Dan Pearce (Paul Warren), Lola\u2019s father, didn\u2019t track her down, to which Billy drops the bombshell that he died 10 years prior, but what he doesn\u2019t inform her about is Lola\u2019s devastating brain tumour diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>After learning she has a granddaughter, Lexi, Emma returns to Albert Square to meet her and reconcile with Lola, watching them from afar as she is too nervous to introduce herself.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Can Lola Rebuild Her Relationship With Her Mum? | Walford REEvisited | EastEnders\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-pBcEa27neo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>She learns about Lola\u2019s brain tumour from a vlog, and begins supporting Lexi and Lola by confronting a bully of Lexi\u2019s at school and delivering money anonymously to Lola, all without them knowing who she really is.<\/p>\n<p>Her true identity is eventually revealed in a fiery confrontation with Billy, leaving Emma to explain the heartbreaking reason she wasn\u2019t in Lola\u2019s life as she uncovers Dan\u2019s vicious abuse towards her including throwing a boiling kettle of water over her.<\/p>\n<p>Lola is dubious about her claims, but after seeing her burns and hearing accounts of abuse from Billy, she believes her mum and rushes to find her and stop her from leaving Walford for a second time.<\/p>\n<p>After reconciling the pair work on building their relationship which is rocked by Lola\u2019s terminal cancer diagnosis as the pair try to spend as much time together as possible.<\/p>\n<h2>When did she leave the soap?<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/themes\/metro-parent\/img\/fallback.png\"><\/p>\n<p>In March, it was revealed Lola only had six months to live which devastated her family, including Emma who had only just reentered her life.<\/p>\n<p>Jay confronts Emma following the news, urging her not to break Lola\u2019s heart if she cannot handle the news and the effects of her illness.<\/p>\n<p>After the conversation, Emma hits Lola with another blow \u2013 that she has received a job offer in America and will be leaving.<\/p>\n<p>Lola is furious with her and tells her she never wants to see her again, with the pair never patching things up before Lola\u2019s tragic death in May.<\/p>\n<p>Viewers last saw Emma at Lola\u2019s funeral, where she quietly entered the service to pay tribute to her beloved daughter.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/themes\/metro-parent\/img\/fallback.png\"><\/p>\n<p>Following her time on the soap, Patsy penned a heartfelt thank you to her fellow castmates.<\/p>\n<p>Posting a selfie on her Instagram page, she wrote: \u2018We\u2019re leaving on a jet plane! Don\u2019t know when I\u2019ll be back again\u2026. Going to the heat. Great news this Friday that my severe chest infection I\u2019ve nursed since December has now been diagnosed and I\u2019m on the right antibiotics and need to convalesce for a bit and will be right back on my feet!!! <\/p>\n<p>\u2018Cannot thank my amazing cast members at the simply awesome experience I\u2019ve had working on @bbceastenders for being so kind and loving to me.
