The couple are currently in the Italian city for the 2023 Venice International Film Festival, which is a much more low-key affair than previous years due to strikes in Hollywood.

During their day at the beach, Carla, a former face of Bulgari, looked sensational in the black swimming costume, which she paired with a set of sunglasses.

Just days earlier, Carla had cut a glamourous figure as she attended the Venice International Film Festival on Saturday.

The singer looked incredible as she walked the red carpet in a flowing black gown that highlighted her jaw-dropping figure. Carla put on a leggy display in the sleeveless garment which also featured a cut out detail along the chest.

Wearing a silver broche near the collar, Carla also added height to her frame with a pair of black heels.

And now, pictures have emerged of Carla showing off her figure once again while enjoying a beach day with Sarkozy.

Last year, Carla hailed her husband as ‘gentle, kind and sexy’ as she opened up about their marriage.

The mother-of-two said at the time that while her husband has a ‘super alpha’ attitude and likes to be in control of the situation, the pair rarely argue because they’re both ‘intense people’ who keep things ‘very positive’.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, she said: ‘He is super alpha, directing everything, taking control of everything’.

‘That’s why he became the president because he has this temperament.

‘But he doesn’t need a country, he does it anyway. He’s also the gentlest and kindest man in the world. And he’s so sexy.’

In the 1980s, the Italian-born beauty was a hot commodity in the fashion world and walked for LaCroix and Chloe, among others, before beginning a career in music.

Carla met Nicolas, who has three other children from previous relationships, at a dinner party in 2007 and instantly hit it off.

Following a whirlwind relationship the couple married three months later, and share a daughter Giulia, ten, while Carla has a son, Aurélien Enthoven, 21, from a previous relationship.

Sarkozy meanwhile was handed a 12-month sentence by a judge after being found guilty of illegal campaign financing in his unsuccessful 2012 re-election bid.

He also was found guilty of corruption and influence peddling in another case and sentenced to a year of house arrest in an appeals trial in May this year. He took the case to France’s highest court, which suspended the sentence.

His appearance at the beach with Carla on Monday comes just days after it emerged that Sarkozy and 12 others will go on trial next year on charges that his 2007 presidential campaign received millions in illegal financing from the government of late leader Moammar Gadhafi. The trial will run from January to April.

The case is the biggest and most shocking of multiple corruption investigations involving Sarkozy. He has been convicted in two others. He denies wrongdoing in all cases.

In the Libya case, he is charged with illegal campaign financing, embezzling, passive corruption and related counts.

Sarkozy has been under investigation in the Libya case since 2013. Investigators examined claims that Gadhafi’s government secretly gave Sarkozy 50 million euros for his winning 2007 campaign.

The sum would be more than double the legal campaign funding limit at the time and would violate French rules against foreign campaign financing.

The investigation gained traction when French-Lebanese businessman Ziad Takieddine told news site Mediapart in 2016 that he had delivered suitcases from Libya containing 5 million euros (£4.2 million) in cash to Sarkozy and his former chief of staff. Takieddine later reversed course and Sarkozy sought to have the investigation closed.

After becoming president in 2007, Sarkozy welcomed Gadhafi to France with high honors later that year. Sarkozy then put France at the forefront of NATO-led airstrikes that helped rebel fighters topple Gadhafi’s government in 2011.
