It has today been revealed that a 15-year-old girl has sadly been orphaned following the accident.

It comes after the teen, who The Sun are choosing not to name, had previously lost her dad to a car crash in Ukraine in February.

Locals say the young girl's grandparents are not in the UK and she is currently staying with people in the nearby area.

It's understood she was not involved in the crash.

Mum Daria had fled the war-torn country with her kids for a better life.

She went on to say Daria's step-daughter Anastasiia had only been in the UK five weeks before her death.

Donna, 39, said: "It's heartbreaking, especially for her. She lost her dad in February in Ukraine and then lost the rest of her whole family in one car crash.

"As far as I'm aware, he also died in a car crash. She's now being looked after by a family friend.

"The little boy had quite a lot of friends at the school that he went to.

"The other girl, Anastasiia, had only been here for five weeks, in the UK, then died in a car crash.

"The mum, was really nice from what everyone has been saying.

"My daughter goes to school with the girl that has been left on her own. But I didn't really know the family.

I'm friends with the lady who has taken her in."

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson today said: "We are now able to confirm the identities of the woman and two children who tragically died in a collision on the A61 near Ripon on Sunday 3 September 2023.

"They are Daria Bartienieva, 35, her son, Ihor Bartienieva, aged 6, and Daria's step-daughter, Anastasiia Bartienieva aged 15.

"All three were from Ukraine and living in Ripon, North Yorkshire, at the time of the collision.

"Our thoughts are with their family members in the UK and Ukraine at this time."
