<\/p>\nA COLLEGE student living in uncomfortably hot conditions has figured out how to cool down.<\/p>\n
She was forced to find a solution after temperatures in her room reached 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 degrees Celcius).<\/p>\n

To make matters worse, she couldn't control the thermostat \u2014 but she worked out a way that she thought might help.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen you figure out how to cool your apartment down,\u201d said Lexus Doely (@imso_lexi).<\/p>\n
A video of her cooling hack has gone viral, with the post attracting 168,000 likes and hundreds of comments. <\/p>\n
\u201cDefinitely wasn\u2019t expecting it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Lexus and three roommates were sweltering in their dorm when she decided she had to take action and improvise.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe got desperate because it was sitting at almost 80\u00b0F," she said.<\/p>\n
In the post, the thermostat was wrapped in silver foil and she directed a hair dryer at it.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe only did it for a minute or so. I definitely won\u2019t be doing this again. I don\u2019t want to break it," she confessed.<\/p>\n
<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n But not everyone in the comments considered it a good idea.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s just going to destroy the electronics in your thermostat," said one person. "You could always do a hot rag, wring the water out, and just set it over the thermostat.\u201d<\/p>\n It brought back memories for a former student.<\/p>\n \u201cRelatable," they said. "When I went to college the school refused to lower the AC past 76\/78\u00b0F. People slept in the halls with all the doors open for a week.\u201d<\/p>\n There was little sympathy from another person: \u201cIt was sitting at 80\u00b0F? That is literally nothing. My house doesn\u2019t have AC and it gets 100\u00b0F and over every day,\u201d<\/p>\n One more viewer was unimpressed: \u201cThat is literally not going to make it cool faster or more efficiently, it\u2019ll just run longer. Just turn it down like a normal person."<\/p>\n Another viewer learned something: \u201cI didn\u2019t actually realize that\u2019s actually where the sensor is located.
