Nine Brits are confirmed to have died in Hamas attack in Israel, with seven others missing, UK government confirms

Nine Brits are confirmed to have died in a Hamas attack in Israel, with seven confirmed missing, the UK government has confirmed.  

At least nine British nationals died in the fatal attacks on October 7, while seven Brits remain missing, a spokesperson for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced today. 

‘We can now confirm that at least nine British nationals were tragically killed,’ the spokesperson said.

‘A further seven British nationals are missing, some of whom are feared to be among the dead or kidnapped.’

Among the British nationals killed is father-of-two Yonatan Rapoport, also known as Yoni, who was tragically murdered by gunmen during the Kibbutz Be’eri attack.

He has tragically left behind his two children, Yosefi and Aluma. 

Yoni was a major Manchester United Fan, and planned on taking his son to Old Trafford for his first ever game next month.

Two more Britons killed by Hamas are Yahel Sharabi, 13, and her mother Lianne.

Yahel disappeared after the terrorists attacked Be’eri Kibbutz and killed her mother, who was born in Bristol.

Yahel’s older sister Noiya Sharabi, 16, and their Israeli father Eli Sharabi are still missing.

Hamas terrorists were seen unleashing a hail of bullets into the terrified families who lived in the isolated community of Be’eri of around 1,000 people that lay less than three miles from Israel’s border with Gaza. 

Chilling video footage showed black-clad gunmen going door-to-door looking for Israeli families to murder in cold blood on the morning of October 7. 

The gunmen can be heard shouting orders at each other in the video as they run from house to house, the sickening sound of gunshots filling the morning air. 

The official announcement on the number of British nationals among the victims comes after Sunak met with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, today.

Sunak said Britain is standing by Israel in its ‘darkest hour’ as it wages war on Hamas.

Sunak spoke alongside Netanyahu today, a day after US President Joe Biden made a similar trip to Israel to express solidarity.

‘I am proud to stand here with you in Israel’s darkest hour as your friend,’ Sunak said.

Sunak acknowledged the ‘shocking scenes’ in recent days, including the aftermath of an explosion at a Gaza hospital, saying ‘we mourn the loss of every innocent life.’

Sunak travelled to Saudi Arabia after his speech with Netanyahu to meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as Britain tries to reduce regional tensions, get aid into Gaza and secure the release of British hostages held by Hamas.
