Following a successful trial in some McDonald’s restaurants throughout the UK, the fast-food chain is launching the McPlant in all its British restaurants. Now Britons all over the UK can get their hands on the burger, no matter where they live.
McDonald’s has around 1,400 restaurants in the UK and Ireland.
Last year, the fast-food giant introduced the McPlant burger to 250 of its restaurants UK-wide.
The veggie classic became a success and, due to popular demand, it is now being rolled out to all restaurants in the country.
This is happening from today, January 5.
The product took over three years to develop and features a patty co-developed with the company Beyond Meat.
This is a vegan burger made to look like meat.
As well as the juicy plant-based patty, the burger includes vegan sandwich sauce, ketchup, mustard, onion, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and a vegan alternative to cheese.
These ingredients are then packed between two slices of a sesame seed bun.

The burger is cooked separately from other McDonald’s burgers using dedicated utensils.
It costs £3.49 and contains 420 calories.
The burger, which was first launched in September last year, is said to emulate the taste of McDonald’s regular dairy cheese.
At the time of its release, Michelle Graham-Clare, Chief Marketing Officer of McDonald’s UK and Ireland said: “We are so pleased to be finally launching McPlant in the UK and Ireland.
“As with every McDonald’s offering, we take our time to ensure it meets the highest standards and is something that all our customers will enjoy.
“We are always looking for different ways to innovate and meet our customers’ needs, and with McPlant we have a delicious plant-based burger that will appeal to everyone.
“Whether you are vegan or just fancy a plant-based patty, we are confident you will enjoy the McPlant.”
Some Britons have taken to social media today to express their excitement at the introduction of the vegan burger to every McDonald’s restaurant.
Twitter user @begancow wrote: “My first thought when I woke up this morning was #mcplant.”
User @vegangravy1 commented: “Can finally get a McPlant in Chester today. Canny bloody wait.”
Matt said: “I won’t be rushing out to give my money to McDonald’s, but the introduction of the McPlant burger is good news. Beyond Meat patties are my favourite by far so I’m sure the burger will be great and hopefully encourage some people to make a change.”
Amy Stone wrote: “Going out to get it for lunch today! #mcplant.”
Kirsty Wright added: “Can’t wait to try this later.”
