Gemma Collins has spoken out on her relationship with her fiancé Rami Hawash's son Tristan's mum, Fernanda Mess.
The TOWIE star, 41, who recently cooled off in a floral bikini as the second heatwave swept the country, opened up about her blended family dynamics in an exclusive chat with OK! magazine.
Clearly a doting stepmum to Tristan, three, Gemma explained that they've come to a mutual understanding of putting him first, above all else, and are "very adult" about it all.
“I know a lot of families are at war with each other. But you've always got to think of what's the best for the kid,” Gemma explained, speaking fondly of 48 year old Rami's son.
Taking the phrase "keeping the peace" to a whole new level, Gemma insisted she's on good terms with Fernanda and even goes out for lunch with her on occasion.
She continued: “Being a blended family is amazing – I get on very well with Tristan’s mum. That child is really looked after. Not everyone stays together forever. The kids shouldn't need to suffer, you know?
“Yeah, we get on. We're very adult about it. We go for lunch, because we've all got one thing in common: we absolutely adore Tristan. So yeah, it's lovely.”
Gemma’s love for her stepson radiates off her, but it’s no secret she’s ready to have a child of her own, too. Motherhood has been at the top of her agenda for quite some time, but “nothing is happening” for them despite trying their best to get pregnant.
“I am going to need to get a little bit of help with that. I'm all positive about it," she said, continuing: "Naomi Campbell had a baby at 50, so there’s no rush hun."
Gemma, who was recently seen beaming as she carried her stepson, added: "With me, I always think everything comes at the right time."
While her personal life has been going well, her health recently took a turn for the worse as she was nearly rushed to hospital after collapsing with a mystery illness on 6 August.
"I have been so ill I cannot tell you. My workload has been a lot, but I've had a virus. I've been really, really, really unwell. I literally had to film up in Wales and I was very unwell," she explained to OK!
Gemma said she was put on a drip twice as she went on: "I had to call the doctor out and the doctor said to me, 'Look I'm going to give you medicine but I actually think this is a virus and it's not going to work.'"
The former Celebrity Big Brother star first began feeling ill at the start of August, but did her best to push it to one side in order to get through her work commitments.
But "this time my body was having none of it" Gemma explained, adding: "Basically I've been on drips. Rami nearly had to take me to the hospital on Saturday night because I was collapsing on the floor.
"Literally, it was really really bad whatever I've had, it's been awful."
