Carol Vorderman discussed her 'five special friends' as she appeared on This Morning today and said there are "no secrets" between her and them, and also mentioned the rules she wants them to follow.
After two failed marriages, Carol revealed that she no longer believes she should be looking for 'the one' and instead likes to spend her time with "five special friends".
Talking to This Morning presenters presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, Carol said: "They do know about each other now. We all have to be on the same page.
"They have their lives and I don't need to know about that. It was interesting I talked about it [multiple partners] off the cuff but the reaction was almost all positive."
She went on to say that she has rules for them to follow, one of which is that the guys need to be single, and not in relationships.
When asked about if her special friends had other friends of their own, Carol said that she's sure they do, but that she never asks or talks to them about it.
She said that she was talking about her relationships as there had been "such a reaction to it" and wanted to break the stigma of having more than one partner as "a lot of people are shamed by society".
Carol confessed that she wanted "to get married and have children" when she was in her twenties, but things change. She said: "In my sixties, I have a full life and I live with my children.
"I don't want to settle with anybody, I love my job, the business of education, a busy home. People don't want just one partner, we're all single. There's one rule, 'do no harm.'"
Reflecting on how things used to be, she said: "Society's rules were very different and if a woman had a child without being married it was awful. I went to Cambridge at 17 and my mum sat me down and told me I need to think about settling down to get married.
"I think age 50+, you have to think: do you want another man to live with you, or do you want the nice bits?"
Speaking on Michelle Visage’s Rule Breakers podcast earlier this month, Carol spoke openly about her love life, explaining that she’s “not into one night stands” but dates multiple men who she refers to as “special friends”.
When asked by Michelle if she was currently in a relationship, Carol explained. “No! I'm having the best time. I've spoken about this once. I have a system which I've had for 10 years. They're called 'special friends'.
“I spoke a couple of months ago about having 'special friends' and it was like, again, the world had fallen in for some people but actually what I found was there was an awful lot of women who said ‘I'd never thought about it like this’.”
Carol shares two children – Katie, 31, and Patrick, 25 – with management consultant Patrick King, whom she married in 1990 before separating 10 years later in 2000.
